clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. we want to go right to sal now with breaking news from san francisco. sal? >> all right. the smoke that was rising has become much less now. it's a house fire on holiday avenue between wright and peralta avenue. this fire is very close to cesar chavez street and highway 101. fire crews arrived on the scene. they were dispatched at 6:48. they got their quick. i heard the radio call during one of my traffic reports. they got there and knocked this down. it was reportedly a fire that started in the garage of this house and you can definitely see that there's smoke coming up but they have -- but they've declared the fire contained at this time in san francisco. stay with ktvu. we'll let you know as we find out more about the fire. we don't know if anyone has been injured or not. back to the desk. >>> thank you, sal. also happening now in san jose, within the past hour, firefighters raced to the scene of a popular south bay restaurant. ktvu's christien kafton joins us live from the scene to tell us what they found when they got there. good morning
morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. we begin with sal. >> breaking news, crash, involving a transit bus and several other vehicles. ktvu's claudine wong is on the scene as we look at live pictures from newschopper2. they are working hard to clear the lanes. looks like one of the paramedic vehicle is just leaving -- vehicles is just leaving. let's go to claudine? >> reporter: five cars were involved. you can see multiple tow trucks out here trying to get these cars out of the way. pretty decent damage to the back of at least several cars that we've seen. the vta bus is actually up in front of that tow truck that you are looking at right now. now, i've talked to the chp about what happened and a witness out here who also stopped after this all happened. he says it all started with one car who rear ended another and then fell out of the car for some reason and that car drifted across the lanes and that's when all of these multiple collisions happened. here's the witness who pulled over describing what happened -- >> someone got rear ended here. the car
area. that's one of the top stories. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. we begin, though, with breaking news in los gatos where newschopper2 is over a gas leak downtown that shut down highway 9 for a time. the highway patrol issued a sig- alert for highway 9 at santa cruz avenue due to the broken line. but we just learned the road has reopened. these are live pictures, once again, from newschopper2 of the scene. pg&e says they are not sure about the cause of the break but the leak has been capped. a chase bank next to the bank was briefly evacuated. this was first reported just after 10:30. once again, a gas leak in los gatos this morning. >>> the bay area's bid to host the super bowl just got a boost during the past two hours. new at noon, ktvu's sal castanedo joins us live to let us know the familiar names joining the effort. >> reporter: you said it. today at city hall some pretty big names participated in a meeting to try to secure the bay area's bid for the super bowl. now, bay area leaders are pulling out some nfl stars in its bid to host super bowl l. today mayor lee announced th

campbell. a moment of silence was held for a teen who was killed while playing a game of chicken with a train. we're at high school where students and staff remember the teenager. >> reporter: it's been a tearful morning here at the high school. grief counselors and school psychologists are on hand all day to help students cope with the loss of 14-year-old austin price. a makeshift memorial started early this morning right near those train tracks. >> we love you, miss you, you'll always be in our hearts. amen. >> reporter: about a hundred students started the day with tears remembering austin price. >> he was a good student, always nice to everybody, loving person. >> reporter: the sheriff aest department is saying the 14- year-old was playing chicken on the train tracks when the train hit and killed him. >> he's still my best friend. i really miss him. i'm going to miss him a lot. >> i'm sorry to kick you out under the circumstances. it's not safe. >> reporter: many walked to and from in this area. officials spent time making sure students stay off the tracks and away from the t
